Newcomers Club Donates Funds to Library
The Hudson Newcomers Club
presented a $1,200
donation to Leslie Polott, Executive Director of the
Hudson Library and Historical Society on
Tuesday, March 16, at the Library.
“The club’s gift will benefit both the adult and
children’s collections,” says Newcomers President
Becky Hinkle. “We are especially pleased that our
donation helps celebrate the one hundredth
anniversary of our wonderful library.”
Members and friends of the Newcomers Club
raised the funds at this year’s winter social event,
the Retro Red Bash, held at The Country Club of
Hudson. Bookplates, created specifically for the
Library’s centennial, will be placed in each item
purchased with the club’s contribution and will
feature the Hudson Newcomers Club name.
“Our organization has evolved to providing
philanthropic aid to our community as well as
serving the social needs of our members,” says
Hinkle.
The Hudson Newcomers Club,
over 100 members
strong, is a long-standing social club for women
residing in Hudson. Since 1954, Newcomers has
welcomed women to town and now is open to all
Hudson women regardless of how long they’ve
been residents. The Club offers special interest
groups such as a monthly book club, Bunco
group, wine tasting and couples casual suppers.
The Club’s annual Spring Fashion Show, to be
held Saturday, April 24, at Lake Forest Country
Club, will benefit the Hudson City Schools Special
Education Programs. |
