Hudson -- The David Hudson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has launched a program to raise money for children's programs at the Hudson Library and Historical Society.
Members of the chapter's literacy promotion committee are designing and crafting wine charms to suit a wide variety of occasions. The charms are available in an assortment of themes and come decoratively packaged. These set are ideal gifts for hostesses, co-workers, family and friends, according to a group spokesperson.
The Hudson Library and Historical Society offers a full array of programs to promote children's literacy, and they are challenged to maintain many programs due to recent state budget cuts, according to a DAR representataive. The DAR has created this drive to help this cause.
The Literacy Promotion Committee is one of many committees within the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The NSDAR is volunteer women's service organization that actively promotes patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. Membership in the NSDAR is open to any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution.
